Men, a mountain and a mission.
On April 19, 20 and 21, men will gather to “Experience the glory of God on the mountaintop,” according to the Men of Iron Facebook page. The mission: “Encounter God’s presence, mercy and power.”
According their page, The Men of Iron event was first held in Ruidoso in 2013, with about 1,000 guys on hand to worship the Lord. Forty some-odd churches had members in attendance. The numbers have been steadily growing each year. The 2018 conference is expected to be a record buster with approximately 1,500 men ascending on the mountain.
The worship team for Men of Iron comes from several churches. The primary church supporting the event is Faith Christian Family Church of Clovis, New Mexico and Pastor David Swann.
Faith Christian Family Church also has a location in Lubbock. Pastor Stormy Swann and Shelly Swann are the senior pastors there and have been active with Men of Iron events.
My husband, Wayne, and his son, Chris, are attending the event, together, this year, along with other friends.
Chris has attended four Men of Iron events…
“…twice in Ruidoso… two times in Glorieta (same people different places). It’s always been an awesome time with the Lord and amazing worship. When there’s a thousand plus men worshiping together under one roof it’s amazing to see what God does in men who had no idea what to expect, much less what He does in the men who have been…and have an idea what to expect.”
Chris adds “Go with an open mind and a willing heart and lay it all down at God’s feet… you walk away forever changed for the better. And it’s a great time to get to spend some quality fellowship time with people you don’t get to spend much time with and get to know them better.”
The Men of Iron conference is a great time for dads and sons to bond with the Father. This is the first time that my new hubby will be attending and he is very excited!
