RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (April 25, 2019) — The extensive upgrades and renovations at Ruidoso Downs begin when people first see the new Ruidoso Downs’ street sign and continue to the All American Turf Club and the Billy The Kid Casino.
All of the improvements are ready for the May 10 opening of the Ruidoso Downs summer season.
“Our initial renovations were more about infrastructure, this year’s improvements are more about patron amenities and things that people can actually see and feel,” said Jeff True, Ruidoso Downs president and general manager.
The All American Turf Club renovation will become apparent to guests when they walk off the elevator. They will be greeted by new carpeting, paint, lighting, furniture, and new, fresh décor. The renovated bar areas, including the horseshoe bar, have new countertops and bar stools.
Horse racing memorabilia from the Ruidoso Racehorse Hall of Fame and racing museum adorn a new display case near the elevator. The case accents the entry and presents a visual connection to great horses and people from racing’s past.
The casino improvements will be direct benefit to players through the improved gaming experience, enhanced atmosphere and improved rewards program.
The primary changes in 2019 are the new carpeting and new layout of the gaming floor. The addition of 26 new machines are up and running with another 20 new games to be added over the next month. This is in addition to the 100 new machines installed last season.
The parking lot has 80,000 square feet of new paving.
Billy’s Rewards Club Members are enthusiastically receiving the new guest reward program. The Billy The Kid players are eligible for $20,000 in cash, merchandise and free play every month.
Recently introduced is a new point system through which customers can multiply their play into points. Not only can points be converted into free play, they may be used to enter various drawings or converted into cash certificates that may be used at our stores or at our participating rewards partners.
A newly renovated, state-of-the-art sign greets people approaching Ruidoso Downs with high resolution video boards on both sides of the sign.
The 50-foot tall sign features two, new 8-foot by 12-foot LED full-color screens in the middle of the sign. The screen is a digital message board that will provide the latest information about Ruidoso Downs. Adorning the top of the sign is a large Ruidoso Downs logo.
Other improvements include a new horse barn and improved logistical operations in the barn area after a purchase of land adjacent to the track and sale facility.
