About Spencer Theater

In the midst of 74 acres in rural Alto, NM, just outside of Ruidoso, is the astonishing Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts. The beauty of the building (and sculptures inside) alone is worth the short drive from Ruidoso. However, we highly recommend catching a show in the 514 seat theater where the furthest seat from the stage is a mere 67 feet (that’s only about 4 feet longer that the length of a standard bowling lane!)

The theater presents approximately 30-35 shows a year ranging from concerts to plays to dance company shows and more! Whether you are a fan of Celtic performances or have a tradition of going to The Nutcracker ballet every holiday season with the whole family, Spencer Theater is sure to have a show you will get excited about during either their Summer or Winter Season. 

They also hold free public tours of the facility throughout the year (excluding holidays). Please call for reservations.

Available- Monday-Friday 9 am to 5 pm MST and 9 am until intermission on performance days at 575-336-4800.
